Newtown, Powys – Perfect For a Holiday
Newton, Powys is a town in Wales which dates back centuries. It has become a popular tourist attraction over the years as there is a lot to see and do in this seemingly small town. One of the first things that greets visitors is the amazing architecture of the city. Frank Shayler built the Free Library building and it is something of a local landmark, so make sure you take your camera.
Visit Newtown on a Tuesday, Friday or Saturday and you will be able to take a look around the market. Here you will be able to find products and foods that may take your interest. There is nothing like enjoying the hustle and bustle of a traditional English market, so don’t miss out on it.
For some amazing views of the Welsh countryside climb up Bryn Bank right to the top. This is quite a steep path, but once you get to the top of the views it will be all worthwhile. Not only will you be able to see the town in all its glory you can also take in the breathtaking countryside.
Many people also enjoy a stroll along the banks of the River Severn. Do this and you will be able to take in even more of the scenery and see some of the wildlife which populates the area.
After all this you will probably be hungry, and in Newtown you are in luck. With over 50 hotels, pubs and breweries you will be able to find somewhere to eat that takes your fancy. Some of these date back to the 17th century, so you can eat immersed in history.
